All Vampire Diaries fans know that later this year we are going to be the original family in their own self titled spin off series. The series will follow Klaus, Elijah and sister, Rebekah back to New Orleans all for their own reasons. Just Jared Jr recently shared these spoilers from the cast.

1. Witches’ Revenge:
“Klaus needs [Sophie]. She’s going to start practicing magic, which she hasn’t been able to do for the the longest time and I think I can protect myself. Witches aren’t nearly as powerful as vampires, but they are essential.” – Daniella Pineda

2. Power struggles:
“[Klaus and Marcel] are going to be butt heads, definitely. There’s that friction there. I just really want to see [Marcel] evolve. I want to see different sides of him open up. That’s definitely going to happen I think with how competitive and ambitious they both are.” – Charles Michael Davis

3. New friendships:
“I hope that Klaus gets Cami as a friend. Because Cami believes that everyone is truly good and I hope that Klaus has someone in his life that believes he’s a good person.” – Leah Pipes

4. Sibling rivalry:
“It’s just going to be that ultimate dynamic of Elijah in pursuit of making certain that the family is reinstated as they once were, which is sort of this pursuit of a fantasy, almost. The Tomorrow People
They are the next evolutionary leap of mankind, a generation of humans born with paranormal abilities — the Tomorrow People. Stephen Jameson stands at the crossroads between the world we know and the shifting world of the future. The 100

Change your calenders! Sony Pictures has bought forward the release date for this years much anticipated movie, The Mortal Instruments – City of Bones. The movie will now be released on August 21st as opposed to the original date of August 23rd.

Even though Season 4 has only just finished and its some time before Season 5 hits our screens, we are still getting flooded with spoilers on what we can expect in the next Season. Executive Producer spoke with TV Guide recently revealing that now Katherine is human things aren’t going to be all peaches and cream….”Absolutely nothing is going to stop everyone from trying to kill her. That’s what puts her in a pickle that is going to have her seeking out protection from unlikely sources.” Plec says, continuing with “She’s definitely going to find herself on the wrong end of a lot of vendettas. We are going to see a vulnerable Katherine, who is able to be hurt and able to be killed and in need of the protection much like the first Elena we met four years ago.”

While the previous season of Supernatural was a disappointment, they at least had the good grace a year ago to leave things in an interesting spot, which gave Season 8 a good chance of starting things off well. And the show did not drop the ball. What we got was a solid season-long mythology storyline, some great supporting characters, and of course, a lot of the always reliable backbone of the show – Sam and Dean Winchester.

Beginning a year after the events of the previous season, things kicked off with Dean’s return from Purgatory. While Dean was gone, Sam had given up hunting, fallen in love and was living a normal life. During the first half of the season the separation between the brothers in terms of what they wanted out of life was reminiscent of the first year of the show, with Dean fully committed to the hunting lifestyle and Sam yearning for what he had with Amelia.

The visuals were especially great in the flashbacks to Dean’s time in Purgatory with the washed out colors giving the place a bleak, war-torn look. Another element that worked well was the introduction of Benny (Ty Olsson), the vampire who helped Dean escape. The friendship he forged with Dean during their time fighting side by side was fascinating, since Dean was not the Winchester brother who would have been likely to work alongside a vampire in the first place. After such an intriguing set up, it was disappointing when halfway through the season Dean told Benny that he couldn’t be there for him anymore. It was even more disappointing when Benny was sacrificed, ending up back in Purgatory. If they don’t rescue him somehow in Season 9 it will have been a frustratingly early end to that character.

While the Purgatory storyline with Dean was pretty successful overall, Sam’s break from hunting to live with Amelia had its problems, problems that continued to bring this plot thread down as the season progressed. The first issue was the fact that Sam had abandoned Dean. Sure, Dean would have wanted his little brother to live a happy life, but there was no getting around the fact that Sam didn’t put much effort into trying to find out what had happened to Dean. Even putting that aside, Sam also left Kevin behind which only compounded the problem. It was a tough spot for the writers to put Sam into. If the story with Amelia (Liane Balaban) had been worth it, maybe it would have been easier to see past Sam’s actions, but in the end there was no chemistry between the two. As much as it would have been great to see Sam happy, it was a relief when we saw the last of Amelia.

I appreciated that the writers must have been looking for new ways to explore the relationship between the brothers, but hopefully in the future they can come up with something that isn’t quite so tough on one character or the other. Luckily Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are both so damn lovable that when the brothers reconciled it was easy to forgive along with them and move on.

The idea of being able to shut the gates of hell permanently was an intriguing storyline right from the beginning. It effectively tied back into the first five seasons of the show, which were their strongest years, while avoiding the trap of trying to create a villain that was somehow scarier than Lucifer.

Keeping Crowley as the main adversary had its benefits – Mark A. Sheppard’s fantastic work in the role being one of them. No one can throw insults at the Winchesters as well as this guy. Sheppard was never better than in the final episode of the season, when Sam’s attempt to cure Crowley put him through the emotional wringer. It will be interesting to see whether the experience changed Crowley permanently when we see him again next season. I for one am hoping there will be a change, if only to keep things interesting. When you have an actor as compelling as Sheppard playing the villain, there is a danger in keeping him around too long. It’s likely any other demon would have switched bodies at least once in the amount of time that Crowley has been on the show, but Sheppard has made the role his own and it’s almost unthinkable to have any other actor playing Crowley at this point.

The introduction of the three trials that would shut the gates of hell was good in that it set up some tangible goals for the second half of the season, but there were some glitches with the execution. The second trial in particular was problematic, with its fairly boring vision of hell and the fact that Bobby was so easy to find. When the trials were discovered, it was assumed by Dean that they were a suicide mission, although Sam promised he’d find a way to survive. For them to spend so much time on the trials, only to drop it at the very end when Dean realized that it really was a suicide mission after all was odd. This is not to say that I’m unhappy that both Winchesters survived the season. That they chose to abandon closing the gates of hell in order to continue fighting together was a classic Winchester brotherly love moment.

Castiel’s (Misha Collins) return and his involvement with both Naomi (Amanda Tapping) and Metatron (Curtis Armstrong) were strong elements of the demon/angel war. Naomi’s mysterious introduction and sinister methods made her an effective villain and Metatron was also successful as an adversary, although he got there in a much different way. His helpfulness gave way to betrayal, one that was set up well but also surprising. The twist in the end of making Castiel human was a good one; it is one of the things I am most looking forward to watching unfold next season.

Although Kevin (Osric Chau) spent the majority of the season cooped up and stressed out, his best moments to date were in “The Great Escapist.” Between the mixture of anger and desperation in his message to Sam and Dean and his refusal to back down when facing Crowley, Kevin really came into his own. He was still around at the end of the finale, so here’s hoping he continues to be part of the team.

“As Time Goes By” was significant for introducing a young Grandpa Winchester and the Men of Letters organization whose headquarters were co-opted by Sam and Dean. It was surprisingly wonderful to see them finally have a place to call home. The episode also did that awesome Supernatural trick of taking what we know of the past, tweaking it and expanding the show’s horizons. I was happy to see that they could still accomplish that in the eighth season.

As usual, the mythology episodes were spread throughout the season, which meant that there were still a lot of monster-of-the-week episodes. Every season has some good and some forgettable installments, and while Season 8 didn’t have any instant classics, there were some fun episodes. With “Bitten” the show did a found footage episode, which had the unique twist of showing Sam and Dean almost exclusively from the guest actors’ perspectives. Other successful stand-alone episodes were “Hunteri Heroici” with its Road Runner style action, and “LARP and the Real Girl” and “Pac-Man Fever” which both featured Felicia Day as the likable Charlie Bradbury, who is as close to being a sister of the Winchesters as anyone has ever gotten.

Although there were some missteps along the way, for the most part Season 8 of Supernatural delivered the goods. It ended on a high note with the excellent finale “Sacrifice” which left us with a handful of cliffhangers to think about while we wait for Season 9.

Well, let’s take a look. There’s no doubt that Jonathan is a fine specimen of a man especially with his chiseled jaw and those deep eyes but we could of course argue that Ian also possesses some of the same features with his handsome face.

The event was held, as normal, at the Sydney University in Kensington. This time though, we were in the Sir John Clancy Auditorium. This particular venue is probably my favourite due to the fact that the seating is tiered, giving every attendee the best vantage point, with no heads in front to block your view of the guests (or your photos!).
This year saw Kat Graham (Bonnie Bennett), Zach Roerig (Matt Donovan) and Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood) make the long arduous trek from the States to meet their fans, take some photos and answer some questions (some quiet interesting ones at that!).

The doors to the day open at 9am, however, having been in attendance at many past events of The Hub Productions, I was well aware that nothing really kicked off until about 10am, sometimes a little later. Knowing this, I was in no rush therefore I arrived at the venue at around 9.45.

After stopping by to say hi to the lovely Jeanie at Random Fandom, I headed off to find my allocated seat for the day. After settling in, I got to know those seated around me and discovered that I was seated next to the lovely Sabah from Vampire Diaries Fan News. After introductions and a little chat with Sabah, there was a little action on the stage and we got our first appearance by all three guests.

After their appearance it was time for the professional photo sessions to start. First up was Micheal, who was, as always looking good and having fun with everyone. Then it was time for photos with Zack, who was absolutely wonderful and far more gorgeous than the camera gives him credit! After Zack, it was Kats turn. Kat looked stunning as always wearing a gorgeous Joyrich dress.
Once the photo sessions were finished, we took a break for lunch before the all important Q & A sessions.

Zach Roerig came onto the stage amidst a plethora of screams from the audience. After taking a seat and waiting patiently for the screams to die down it was straight into the Q & A.

What did you buy with your first TVD pay cheque?
My favourite surfboard – an Al Merrick 66 Surfboard

What are your thoughts on Matt & Rebekah’s relationship?
I think its awesome. Its great seeing their love blossoming and I’d love to see more of it.

Whats your favourite episode so far?
I’d have to say Season 1, Episode 3, where Vicki is changed into a vampire.

Whats it like being one of the only humans left in Mystic Falls?
I think it’s the coolest thing. Matt is the last link to Elena’s humanity.

Do you have any funny stories from set?
[laughs] Nothing appropriate.
There is one thing I can share – In episode 23 (the season 4 finale) there is a group hug with all the main characters. Paul Wesley kept grabbing my butt and its nearly impossible for them to cut it out of the scene! So keep your eyes out for it.

Who is your inspiration?
I’d have to say Robert Redford.

What do you do in your free time (when you get some!)
I love to surf but that’s a little hard to do in Atlanta. I also race SUP’s (Stand Up Paddleboards). I like to garden and read and recently I’ve taken up playing ping pong.

If you weren’t an actor what would you be doing?
If I wasn’t an actor I’d be working in my dads business. He’s a tombstone cutter. If I wasn’t working for dad then I’d be working with the Department of Forestry.

How would you like to see The Vampire Diaries end?
I’d love to see the original group of friends finding peace but that’s to lame, so I’d like to see Klaus meet his end….Matt axes all vamps!

After a few more questions about what he’d like to do in the future (buy a ranch in Montana & produce) and who’s funniest on set (Matt Davis – but Zach & Micheal laugh the most!) it was time to say a huge thank you to Zach and wave farewell.

The lovely Kat Graham was our next guest on stage. Kat is a very vibrant person and its hard not find yourself smiling and nodding to the things that she has to share about herself and her thoughts on her character, Bonnie.

Whilst Kat wouldn’t give out too much information on the season finale, she was more than happy to share quite a bit about her personal tastes.
She has a great love for fashion (as most of her fans would know) and currently her favourite designs come from Joyrich, which is old school 90’s fashion. In fact the dress that she was wearing that day was a Joyrich.

Kat is an avid fan of Game of Thrones, Homeland and Breaking Bad and finds herself to be a very addictive person in that she becomes super obsessive about the characters and the shows that she watches. Because of this she relates to all of her TVD fans. She would love to work with Gwen Stefani and would love to do more work as a producer.
When Kat was asked by a young female fan what she thought when she read the script where Bonnie dies, she responded by saying that she really didn’t blink. She didn’t think all that much of it as she was given many revelations that day. Kat was also asked what her thoughts on the season finale were and whilst she couldn’t give much away, she did say that it is filled with twists, turns and familiar faces. Be prepared for it to be Epic & Colossal.

After a wonderful 40 minute Q & A session, where we learnt many things about Kat, it was time for her to leave the stage.
After Kat’s Q & A it was Auction time. The Hub Productions holds an auction of memorabilia from the show, with all proceeds going to the Starlight Foundation. This auction is held at every event the Hub puts on. Things such as Comic Con bags, jewellery and signed photos go up for auction and some fetch some fabulous prices.
After the auction it was time for the final Q & A session of the day, our favourite werewolf turned hybrid, Micheal Trevino. Micheal came out, iphone in hand, recording the reactions from his Sydney fans –
and we certainly didn’t disappoint!

As you can hear, Michael was greeted by the Sydney fans the only way we know how…loudly!
After taking a seat the first questions started to roll out. Most of the questions asked of Michael related to The Vampire Diaries with a few personal ones thrown in. One fan asked Michael what his favourite line in the series has been, to which he replied “I’m not your little Bitch anymore!”. This answer was greeted with great applause and cheers!
Another question asked was what his favourite Caroline scene was. Michael told us that his favourite Tyler & Caroline scene was Tylers first wolf transformation. It was such rollercoaster ride and having Candice there was great support. Michael revealed that Candice actually whispered “sweet nothings” in his ear which was off script. He also said that he always knew that Tyler was to be a wolf.

When asked what his favourite thing about Tyler was, Michael told fans that Tyler’s masculinity and aggressiveness were the best parts of Tyler. He also said that he preferred being a hybrid over a werewolf as hybrids are much more bad ass adding that being a bad guy had so many more layers than being a good guy.
On a more personal level, Michael shared with the audience that he would love have had the opportunity to work with a young Marlon Brando, although his grandfather is his greatest role model as he is hardworking and has always put his family first.

When asked what he would be doing if he wasn’t acting, Michael told us that he would love to learn how to cook and if that didn’t work out then giving the news on ESPN was for him.
The one thing that Michael was unable to tell us was when we could expect to see Tyler return to Mystic Falls and even with Klaus now in New Orleans it seemed unlikely to be anytime soon. On the topic of Hayley, Tevino told us that it was never a closed case and he’d love to make a guest appearance on the upcoming Vampire Diaries spin off, The Originals.

After about 40 minutes of a fabulous Q & A it was time to bid Michael farewell. However, just before he left the stage though there was one last thing to do. At each Hub event, two of the guests are asked to design their own T-Shirt which is then put up for auction with all proceeds going to the Starlight Foundation. Zach was also asked back on stage and both Michael and Zach were given a plain white T-Shirt that they then needed to draw on.

Matt’s shirt was the first to be auctioned off. Each shirt was also signed by the actor. Michael’s shirt was next and to entice bids he offered up a game of “tic-tac-toe” to be played on the shirt and also a kiss on the cheek for the winning bidder. Needless to say that his shirt went for a lot more than Zach’s! Take a look at the video below to see what went on
After the auction was finished it was time to head out and collect our photographs from earlier in the day and have them signed by the actors. This was the last event of the day and gave each attendee an opportunity for one on one time with the actors before heading home with some fabulous memories and for some, new friends.
