Last we left Scott (Tyler Posey), Stiles (Dylan O’Brien), Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) and the rest of MTV’s Teen Wolf crew, things were not looking so great. Scott and Allison (Crystal M. Reed) had broken up; Jackson (Colton Haynes) had turned from one supernatural being into another, and Derek’s pack was left alone in the woods, being circled by the unknown.
When Teen Wolf returns for its third season on Monday, June 3, four months have passed and the new school year is just starting. But while it is doing so without one conflict-filled character, a whole new pack of them are coming in. Beacon Hills will soon be home to a bunch of new Alphas, sure to stir the pot and raise the stakes even higher.
Celebuzzwas on-set with the Teen Wolf cast to get the scoop on Season 3
1.) Jackson may not be dead, but his absence still hits harder — some harder than others, for obvious reasons. “I personally think [Lydia] went through a breakdown because she’s no longer with her boyfriend and the love of her life,” Holland Roden said. “It’s a little bit of a certain… musically talented couple that like to break up and get back together a lot. Maybe he’s not the best for her, but it doesn’t matter because that’s who she loves. I think at the end of the day, whether it’s good or bad, it’s realistic. Jackson might not have treated her right at times, but I think he was the love of her life, and so she’s devastated.”
2.) Allison has vowed to get out of the werewolf-hunting business, but that’s easier said than done when new threats come to town, resulting in a kind of vigilante stance. “She figures out pretty quickly that they’re not kind, and they’re a threat. People are dying, and that’s quite alarming to her. Her need to protect her friends — because she has no family — overpowers the pact she has with her dad [to be out of the family business],” Reed said.
“She has to be off the radar. She’s kind of like the person you don’t see coming. Because she’s doing it so low-key, it’s kind of like ‘Oh, where did that arrow come from? Must be Allison!’”
3.) Both Scott and Stiles are focused on growing up and bettering themselves, not relationships. “Scott is really trying to take care of himself,” Posey said. “He wants to feel good about himself, so to do that he really has to be proactive and responsible, and he’s in a great place, even [with] the break-up.”
“Towards the end of the second season, Scott was kind of getting behind in school, and he was putting everything before school and trying to save people, and he has since prioritized his life. He’s doing great in school; he’s reading every day; he’s doing a bunch of pull-ups — one-armed pull-ups, by the way!”

And as for Stiles, O’Brien shared that his research is actually evolving into real detective work: “His room has turned into a crime scene [investigation] of sorts. He has boards everywhere and pictures up and things connected. He has this web of information around his walls, kind of. He’s always been the detective, sort of, but now he’s actually becoming like his dad.”
4.) The new Alphas that come to town see Derek as a prime target and plan to infiltrate the inner circle any way they can. For some, this is through straight intimidation, but others take a more “manipulation by seduction” approach. “Some of the folks look at us as threats, and a lot of them find us attractive as the new set of twins in town, so it’s really playing that up. Being both threatening, and as much as one could be, attractive. That’s what we’re there to do,” Charlie Carver, who plays Ethan, said, noting that Ethan is “going after Danny” in a way that is a bit “blurry” as to whether or not any of his feelings are real.
Each one has their own unique, special ability, too. Carver also shared that for twins Ethan and Aiden, the ability is that they’re “super fast when apart” and that when they “fight, it’s very much as one.”
5.) Loss is a huge motivator for many characters in the beginning of the season, including Boyd, who is reeling from the loss of Erica when he comes back to town a changed kid. “He’s a man scorned, and he’s out for blood,” Sinqua Walls said. “He’s massively in touch with his wolf-like tendencies and still trying to control them and still learning, and now he’s kind of breaking out, not sure of who to trust. He has a tendency now to want to lash out, and there’s no one there to guide him in how to become a good wolf.”
Teen Wolf returns for Season 3 on Monday, June 3 at 10PM on MTV.
Earlier this month, MTV News gave “Mortal Instruments” fans their first look at Godfrey Gao all done up as magical Magnus Bane for the upcoming supernatural romance, out August 23. But Magnus enthusiasts have yet to see the Brooklyn High Warlock quite like this — in his skivvies!
Gao welcomed MTV News to “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” set on his first day of shooting — a party scene which found the 28-year-old sans pants.
“It’s really cold,” Godfrey said, all smiles. “At first, I was like, ‘All right, I thought this party was going to be an indoor mansion with a lot of lights and chandeliers like you see in back.’ Turns out, it’s outside, and it’s actually, I think, 11 degrees Celsius, so I’m just hanging out with my boxers on and everyone sees … I have great legs. But it’s very fun to play Magnus Bane, as you can see.”
(For reference, the temperature in Fahrenheit is just over 50 degrees.)
But the chill wasn’t Gao’s main concern. As he told our own Josh Horowitz, the actor understands the great responsibility he’s undertaken portraying the fan-favorite character from Cassandra Clare’s series about the secret world of the demon-destroying Shadowhunters.
“There’s actually a really big pressure because I know there are a lot of fans out there, and everyone loves Magnus Bane, and I love Magnus Bane,” he said. “So I just wanted to play a sort of cool-looking Magnus Bane, but I also wanted to bring out the flamboyant side. The party side of Magnus Bane, so hopefully everybody can enjoy what I bring to you on screen.”
And for those who can’t get enough of the warlock, Clare revealed that an extra Magnus scene was written into the screenplay that didn’t originally appear in the book.
“It is really cool,” Gao said of the bonus moment. “This whole ride has been amazing. I really got to thank everybody… This is my first English feature. I’m actually pretty nervous doing this interview now. I never do any interviews in English, it was always in Mandarin before.”
If fan fervor for Gao and his on-screen alter ego is any indication, we have a feeling there will be plenty more English interviews where that came from.
“The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones,” starring Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, hits theaters August 23.
It was the moment “Beauty and the Beast” fans were waiting for all season long – Catherine Chandler and Vincent Keller finally kissed on Thursday night’s episode of The CW drama.
“They don’t just kiss each other for the first time, they say, ‘I love you!’ It’s just a huge moment for those characters and I think it’s just the first time that they’re like, ‘All right, we’re in this 100 percent,'” Nicole Gale Anderson, who plays Catherine’s little sister, Heather, told AccessHollywood.com .
Nicole said when she read about the smooch in the script, she was beyond delighted.
“I am, personally, like a huge like fan of the whole Vincent and Cat relationship, so when I read the script and saw it in the end, I squealed like a little girl,” she laughed. “I went to work the next day and I was like, ‘Yes! It finally happens. I’m so excited.'”
As for the reaction of her co-stars – Jay Ryan, who plays Vincent, and Kristin Kreuk, who plays Catherine — they too were thrilled.
“Jay and Kristin, their relationship at work is so [professional], but they just have this comfort-ability with each other that’s really nice to see between two co-stars that have to be in love with each other on screen, so they were definitely excited that the kiss finally happened,” Nicole said.
But, Thursday’s episode also introduced a darker tone to the drama. In beast form, Vincent killed Heather’s new boyfriend Darius, who was about to shoot Catherine’s unconscious little sister. That act is going to create some serious conflicts.
“It’s a huge game changer for everyone, starting off with Heather going through that experience again,” Nicole explained. “After the loss of her mom, it was just a huge hit to her… So I think that going through this a second time is definitely damaging for her, but it’s also a huge thing for Catherine because essentially, her boyfriend killed her boss’ brother.
“It completely changes everything at work for Catherine and they start this huge manhunt for The Beast,” Nicole continued. “And yeah, it just throws the show into a whole crazy direction and new characters will be introduced because of the death of Darius… It totally changed everything.”
Among the newcomers heading to “BATB” are former “Heroes” actor Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will play Assistant District Attorney Gabriel Lowen.
“After Vincent has killed somebody… it will galvanize a certain group of people on the show against the vigilante and motivate their need to destroy him,” “BATB” Executive Producer Brian Peterson told reporters at a recent screening for The CW show.
But, look out for Evan (Max Brown) to look after Catherine, who he continues to have feelings for.
“Evan will have a big story too. [His] goal is to protect Cat,” the EP said.
“It’s kind of this situation of, ‘Why is this person I care about doing all these dumb things?'” he continued. “So he’s in the position of, ‘I need to protect her from herself.’ He’s going to kind of continue to protect her in ways and get more and more involved in things he never should be getting involved in.”
“BATB” returns with an all new episode, airing March 14 at 9/8c on The CW.
