Source reveals why Mazzara left ‘The Walking Dead’
Fans of the zombie apocalypse TV show “The Walking Dead” were shocked when they learned that showrunner Glen Mazzara was leaving the series. Speculation as to why Mazzara chose to leave, and whether or not he was given the boot, began to surface. On Wednesday, January 9, Warming Glow’s insiders revealed that “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman is to blame.
According to the source, insiders confirm that Kirkman was one of several producers that disagreed with the direction Mazzara was steering the show. “[Robert Kirkman] is very proprietary,” the source reads. “I believe Robert wants to maintain a certain amount of his control, and AMC needs Robert for the fan base.”
The source goes on to say that “Mazzara’s shortcoming in running the series during the most recent third season became ‘abundantly clear…especially for the second half of the season.’”
“The Walking Dead” returns to AMC on February 10 with episode 9, “The Suicide King.” Subscribe to stay up-to-date with spoilers and “Walking Dead” news if you can’t wait for the season to return!
