As we posted the the other day but who ever missed it..
The Peacock network announced on Tuesday that it has ordered 10 episodes of a new drama about the infamous Bram Stoker vamp. Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors) will star in the new version of the classic tale, which takes place in the 1890s and finds Dracula living a double life in London as an American businessman who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society.
But that’s just the cover story. In reality Dracula is on a quest to extract revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries ago. That plan may be thwarted, though, when he falls in love with a women who seems to be the reincarnation of his dead wife.
“In the world of Twilight and True Blood and all the contemporized stories, we thought we’d go back to the original,” NBC Entertainment president Robert Greenblatt told journalists at the Television Critics’ Association’s press tour on Tuesday. Additional casting news and production details will be announced at a later date.
Are you excited to see NBC give Dracula a new spin? Could Jonathan Rhys Meyers give Ian Somerhalder and Alexander Skarsgard a run for his money as the hottest small screen bloodsucker?
