Supernatural season 7 will be sending one of the Winchester brothers back in time again, and in episode 12, “Time After Time After Time,” he’ll be encountering someone very familiar, in both character name and the actor playing the character. The X-Files’ Nicholas Lea will be guest starring as Eliot Ness.
SPN season 7 episode 12 “Time After Time After Time” official description
“Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) tangle with the God of Time (guest star Jason Dohring), who sends Dean back to 1944, where he is immediately arrested by none other than the one and only Eliot Ness (guest star Nicholas Lea). While trying to figure out how to retrieve his brother, Sam is surprised by the reappearance of an old friend.”
The newest promo (here) out from the CW advertising their shows does show snippets of Dean back in 1944, as does the promo out for this episode and the one before it, “Adventures in Babysitting” (below). In addition to Lea guest starring as Eliot Ness, Jason Dohring, who is recurring on another CW series, Ringer, will be appearing as the God of Time. Oh, the Winchesters’ history of dealing with gods is not exactly a happy one, so what happens this time to lead to Chronos sending Dean to 1944? Dean’s no stranger to time travel (and he’s been sent back in time without his brother before). What will Dean encounter there? Why does Eliot Ness arrest him? Eliot Ness is supposed to be a hunter as well in this, so what could they end up hunting in 1944? Whatever happens, it’s impossible not to be excited about seeing Nicholas Lea, whom X-Files fans know as Alex Krycek, as Eliot Ness (and he’s nowhere near the first X-Files connection on Supernatural) and seeing how Dean reacts to being in the past once again. So far, it looks like seeing Dean in 1944 should be exciting, and he certainly looks like he fits in the time period in the promo.
Meanwhile, once again, Sam and Dean will be separated on Supernatural. By now, it almost goes without saying that it’s bad news when the brothers are apart, especially when they’re in different points in time. However, who will Sam be running into in the present? “An old friend” could mean anyone, but this is also supposed to be the episode featuring Kim Rhodes’ return as Sheriff Mills. Could he have to tell her that Bobby’s dead? Bobby’s fate is currently unknown, and when she was last seen, Bobby had kissed her after she led to him discovering that cleaning solution is the key to most successfully face off with Leviathans. It looked like Bobby was finally getting some love, but could that romance be over before it even had time to start? Could Jodie help Sam get Dean back? He could always be running into someone else, as they do have a long list of “old friends,” both dead and alive (and this is Supernatural, so the first category is no obstacle).
How will Dean get back from 1944? He doesn’t exactly have an angel to call upon for help anymore. Could Chronos bring him back to the present in the end? Will Sam be the one to bring Dean back with help from the old friend?
In Season 4, we saw best buddies Hoyt Fortenberry and Jason Stackhouse end their friendship over the news that Jason had sex with Hoyt’s ex, Jessica Hamby. True, Hoyt and Jessica were broken up, but we all know that Hoyt wouldn’t be able to let that slide. He & Jason have been friends for so long, he & Jessica had only been dating & living together for a year or two.
So what do you think is up for Hoyt? He’s lost his best friend and his girl this season. Not to mention he left his mama Maxine because she didn’t like him being with a vampire. Will he go back to her? Go back to Summer and her biscuits again? Join the Fellowship of The Sun now that he thinks vampires are “monsters”? Will he realize Jason really did try to stay away from Jessica and forgive him? His story seems pretty up in the air.
Jessica & Jason: Meant to be, or another crazy-ass relationship gone wrong for Jason?
It’s hard to not see Jessica with Hoyt (since they were such a great couple in Season 2 & 3) but wants to explore of her vampire side and being tied to one man isn’t going to cut it. She sure has grown up a lot since she was made vampire in Season 1 – glad to see her relationship with Bill has improved and they can respect one another.
And finally: Jason. He has grown up a lot too – being much more responsible, being honest with Hoyt and actually being a good cop. True, he hurt his best friend (but in Ross’s defense on Friends, they were “on a break”). We all know he struggled to fight his desire for Jess, but she was too much for himto resist. He seemed offended when Jessica said, “Since when is Jason Stackhouse concerned with doing the right thing?” And what about all of those women he was forced to have sex with in Hotshot? Did he impregnate any of them? Will Mama Kitty Crystal come back for him? Will Jason become a panther after all? Will we have to see that dreadful place again? (I have to admit, I kind of like Timbo, but that’s it.)
Tell us what YOU think will happen to Hoyt, Jessica and Jason this season. Was it just the blood that Jessica gave him or is there really something deeper going on between those two? Are Hoyt’s words to Jason true? (‘You’ll never have something real with her or anybody because there’s something inside you that’s just missing.’) Who will Hoyt turn to? Will “Ghostdaddy” breed
HBO’s looking to make sure our New Year sucks by giving us three nights of True Blood. Starting Thursday 12/29 through 12/31, HBO is set to re-air Season 4 for your viewing pleasure. Still not sure what you’ll be up to on New Year’s Eve?
